San Diego Minutemen Adopt a Freeway

The San Diego Minutemen recently adopted a two mile stretch of northbound
I-5 near the San Onofre checkpoint. The citizen volunteers of SDMM are very proud and excited to participate in this civic program to keep our San Diego County highways clean.

“SDMM works tirelessly to improve our communities and solve problems, so this was a natural extension of our activism and community service”, said Mike Spencer, spokesman for SDMM. In addition to illegal immigration, SDMM’s large group of activists have great concern for many other local issues including the environment, gang violence, and human trafficking. Minutemen have conducted several volunteer clean up operations in McGonigle Canyon where hundreds of migrant workers have been allowed to live in squalor camps and pollute the canyon for many years. In January 2007, SDMM hauled up and removed over 20 large trash bags of garbage from just one area of McGonigle Canyon.

SDMM went through the same application and vetting process as hundreds of other groups and businesses in California to qualify for this adoption. Due to SDMM’s 100% clean record, we were easily accepted into the adopt a highway program.

SDMM is not the first pro-America group to adopt a highway in the U.S. In 2007, the Rocky Mountain Minutemen in Colorado and the Campo Minutemen in Campo, CA adopted stretches of highways and have been keeping them clean with great pride.

The recent false and defamatory statements by the Anti-defamation League and other illegal alien activist groups in San Diego accusing our peaceful, multi-ethnic volunteers of advocating violence are detestable. To falsely accuse a successful activist group of violence and discrimination is reprehensible and is indicative of the very corruption and lawlessness that we are fighting against.
SDMM has always condemned any hate, racism, and violence in the illegal immigration debate and will continue to do so.
