1. Citizens do not want street-side illegal hiring sites in their communities! These sites are havens for criminals and illegal activity including public urination/defecation, drunkenness, gambling, drug dealing, and of course illegal hirings. In Nov 06, eight mostly illegal day laborers jumped photographer John Monti from behind at the Penasquitos DLS. They knocked him into the busy street and destroyed his $2000 camera. They have never been charged for their crimes. In Sep 07, two illegal alien day laborers raped and stabbed a woman in Bonsall after she picked them up at the local popular hiring site near the ARCO station. She was nearly killed. The suspects are awaiting trial in Vista. There are also many reports of robberies and other crimes at the homes people take day laborers to for their cheap manual labor. Many day laborers are CRIMINALS who stand in public with impunity from local law enforcement!
2. IT IS A FELONY CRIME TO HIRE AN ILLEGAL ALIEN and our research shows that about 90-95% of day laborers at these sites in SD Co. are illegal. And of course they block sidewalks and driveways, swarm cars, jump into cars, harass customers, hurt nearby businesses, and create litter and filth in the surrounding areas. Many of them also live in nearby bushes and weeds or cram 8-20 guys into small apartments creating severe health and safety issues. Organized crime also takes place at these sites as their “handlers” control who is hired and how much the workers are paid. Handlers and smugglers are frequently attacking American citizens at these sites, at least 12 documented cases in San Diego County since 2005. Document fraud is also perpetuated by these uncontrolled sites.
3. Some of these sites which used to be 5-10 loitering men, have grown to 50-100 unemployed migrant men due to ICE and Border Patrol no longer conducting sweeps of day labor sites and the continued flood of new, poor illegals pouring over our open borders everyday. There are about 40 major sites in San Diego County and most of those have grown out of control. It is a known fact that all of these day labor sites just act as magnets for more illegal aliens to enter our country, making the problems in our communities even worse. (Escondido, Vista, Encinitas, Rancho Penasquitos, San Diego, etc.).
4. A little known fact about our local day labor sites is that they are supported by illegal alien “rights” groups, many with a reconquista agenda (slow takeover of America by foreign illegal Latin citizens). These groups, like the local CRLAF headed by Claudia Smith, try to promote more and bigger sites to help Latinize our communities for their own La Raza agendas. They also work tirelessly to “legalize” as many criminal aliens as they can so they can never be deported and then can bring their families up to settle in our country and reap the benefits of America without becoming Americans.
5. Citizens have asked all levels of government to do something about the out-of-control day labor sites and been told nothing can be done or they are afraid of ACLU or similar lawsuits.
6. Therefore, the citizens of San Diego County, through organizations like SDMM and local citizen brigades will continue to peacefully observe, document, and report on these sites for illegal activity. Our efforts have resulted in the closure or partial closure of at least four sites this year. Due to this success, we will continue to work all 40+ sites until all of them are closed, with or without the help of federal or local agents, officers, and elected officials. The citizens support our efforts and we will continue to clean up our own neighborhoods through operations and activities.
7. City sanctioned and/or city funded day labor sites, such as Escondido, Carlsbad, and Pacific Beach are NOT the solution since they promote illegal activity and these sites are therefore illegal. They also take precious resources away from citizens and legal residents and give them to people who are in the country illegally. They also violate RICO statutes by unfairly competing with employment businesses. The solution is employers and residents who need to hire temporary workers need to follow all state and federal hiring laws and hire legal residents from legitimate hiring services like Labor Ready, Staff Pro, or http://www.hirepatriots.com/
8. We strongly believe that ridding our communities of these unsightly and often dangerous sites is a good first step to dealing with San Diego’s illegal immigration crisis. | |
